Globalization, Law and Development Conference
Friday, April 16, 2004, Ann Arbor, MI
This conference was designed to contribute to a debate renewed in the last several years on how best to promote development in an era of globalization. The UN began the process in 2000, by setting out a series of far-reaching and concrete "Millennium Development Goals", which aimed to significantly reduce global poverty by 2020. These debates have at least three critical components, each with considerable legal and policy implications:
- Development assistance
- Trade
- Institutional reform and aid for trade
