The purpose of the conference is to bring together the leading thinkers and action agents in the broad domain of "base of the pyramid" (economically viable enterprise-based approaches to poverty alleviation) with the aims of (1) sharing the latest ideas and approaches, (2) catalyzing new thinking, and (3) generating opportunities to meet fellow colleagues in an intimate setting.

WDI's Base of the Pyramid Initiative at the University
of Michigan has organized a monthly lunch series centered on innovative business solutions to poverty alleviation. The BOP Initiative has joined forces with the Emerging Markets and Net Impact Clubs at the Ross School of Business to conduct monthly BOP lunches. Hosted by the William Davidson Institute, the goals of the lunch series are to share the most recent thinking on BOP opportunities and challenges and to build and support a community of students interested in BOP issues. Guest speakers at previous meetings include Jesse Moore of Care Canada and Patrick Donohue of Brinq.
