CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Davidson Data Center and Network (DDCN)
Doctoral Grants on Transition Economies
As part of its mission to support data collection from transition economies and emerging markets, the Davidson Data Center and Network (DDCN) invites proposals focusing on data acquisition or collection from one or more countries with transition economies. Preference will be given to proposals with focus on Central and Eastern European countries. U.S. based doctoral students or current post-doctoral researchers in economics, business, public policy, political science, sociology, or other related programs are encouraged to apply. The deadline for application is December 31st, 2006. Successful candidates will be notified no later than January 15th, 2007.
Those interested in applying should send via email a resume, up to two pages of proposal outlining their primary research interests including the type of data they are planning to collect or acquire and a brief budget to the DDCN (DDCN@bus.umich.edu). Funding from this grant will cover travel costs (airplane ticket using US carrier only and in-country travel) and data acquisition or collection costs. It is the responsibility of the student or researcher to secure funds for accommodation and other living expenses. All travel should be planned to take place during the Winter 2007 semester. All reimbursements and related documents submission should be completed soonest possible but no later than June 30th, 2007.
Data collected under this grant will be archived at the DDCN.
DDCN is jointly funded by the National Science Foundation and the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan.
