BoP Research Initiative Studies Impact Sourcing
The Rockefeller Foundation has awarded WDI’s Base of the Pyramid Research Initiative a grant to explore existing and potential impact sourcing opportunities across approximately 20 countries that are popular destinations for business outsourcing activities.

BoP Course Begins
Two graduate-level courses on the base of the pyramid, taught by WDI Senior Research Fellow Ted London, began Nov. 1. About 110 students are enrolled in the course – one held during the day, the other in the evening - on business strategy and poverty alleviation at the base of the pyramid.

Lisa Smith has joined WDI’s Health Care Research initiative as a research associate. Since early 2010, she had served in a similar role with WDI’s Base of the Pyramid (BoP) Research initiative. She will continue to devote part of her time working with the BoP team.

WDI Studying Impacts For Kenya Enterprise
WDI has been engaged by Sidai Africa Ltd., a livestock franchise social enterprise, to guide them in their impact assessment efforts. This includes identifying potential impacts across key stakeholders, providing recommendations for business model enhancement, and developing a process Sidai can use to quantify these impacts.
