What is a Davidson Field Scholar?
Davidson Field Scholars is a select group of U-M graduate students who actively and intentionally engage with WDI in addressing the business challenges faced by partner companies and organizations operating in low- and middle-income countries. They work with WDI’s partners in the field and contribute to at least two WDI projects.
What can a student expect to receive as a Davidson Field Scholar?
Are scholars evaluated during the WDI-sponsored programs?
The scholars are evaluated as a part of the qualifying WDI sponsored program in which they participate. Scholars will also be evaluated to ensure their work meets WDI standards and their conduct is in good standing.
Is this a yearly program or would I have to reapply each year?
Once a student is designated as a scholar, they will remain a scholar while at U-M and as an alumnus as long as they satisfactorily complete the requirements and remain in good standing.
Is there any financial commitments for the scholar?
No. The program does not require a financial commitment from the scholar.
Is this a scholarship?
No. Becoming a Davidson Field Scholar does not include a financial aid award.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed upon submission.
Does WDI provide independent study projects?
WDI may have independent study projects available that they will offer to Davidson Field Scholars.
