Professional Education

Offered by WDI and Leadup Universe, the four-month program will help managers navigate the advance of HR tech

The William Davidson Institute (WDI) at the University of Michigan will partner with the India-based edu-career tech organization, LeadUp Universe, to provide a career playbook for working professionals focused around skills development, mentoring, coaching and professional networking. Their first joint program, a post-graduate certificate program, will launch in July 2022.

The four-month hybrid program “Post Graduate Certificate in HR Technology and Digital Transformation” provides an in-depth overview of HR digital trends, tools and practices. The program touches on the importance of internal mobility, practical approaches to skills and capability development, building capability on new models of HR leadership, employee lifecycle, employee engagement, employee experience in the context of hybrid and deskless working.

The pandemic has challenged HR professionals today to operate in a dynamic environment that increasingly relies on data-heavy processes. HR data and analytics is imperative for HR leaders to better recruit, retain, and forecast talent needs. Advanced technologies are expected to replace all the conventional tools and systems at workplaces with digitized versions by 2025.

In this context, a program that is configured to deliver knowledge from top university faculties, mentoring by leading industry experts, live immersions with HR technology platforms and career services will not only help the learner with the right capabilities but also in career growth.

The WDI / LeadUp Universe’s partnership will draw on both WDI’s global faculty network and LeadUp Universe’s rich collection of HR industry experts and India-based business faculty.

The program will target participants who are responsible for HR digitization and transformation within a company. The program is open to working professionals operating in India and the sub-continent.

After completing the course and earning their certificate, participants will be able to:

  • Describe direct linkages between data-driven HR strategy and business objectives
  • Identify building blocks for business growth using HR analytics and technology
  • Apply principles of HR analytics to various dimensions of the HR Function
  • Practice practical implementation using a live tech tool in a skills lab

Program Framework:

  1. Weekly live virtual classroom sessions for 6 hours
  2. Two days in person immersion with a live HR tech platform
  3. Mentoring with Industry practitioners
  4. Access to exclusive Career Services partners

“We’re pleased to partner with LeadUp Universe to offer joint executive education programs tailored to HR executives,” said Amy Gillett, WDI Vice President for Education. “LeadUp Universe shares WDI’s vision of bringing world-class management education to markets around the globe and expanding access to cutting edge practices and tools.”

This program enables HR managers and C-suite executives to adopt cutting edge HR practices in their companies and to elevate the HR function to the center of company strategy, Gillett added.

“Participants in this program will also become part of a valuable global network of fellow HR executives that will serve as an ongoing source of inspiration and ideas,” Gillett said

“We are extremely excited to partner with WDI at the University of Michigan to build this timely and relevant program aimed at working professionals in HR and business functions,” said Rashmi Mandloi, co-founder of Leadup Universe. “The new world of work is prompting a reimagining of the HR function as we’ve known it. A digital transformation will bring about challenges, which require an immersion and conversation around new knowledge and directions.”

Mandloi noted that a 2021 Leadup Universe research study found a huge demand among HR business leaders and teams to build HR technology understanding and skills, specifically on the Indian subcontinent.

“WDI at the University of Michigan is a leader in the space of research and innovative learning across geographies and business ecosystems,” Mandloi said. “WDI’s experience in business training and its global network of professors is a strong combination of knowledge and resources that will be very valuable to professional learners in this program.”
