Diana Páez is Senior Director, Energy & Mobility at the William Davidson Institute. Her role involves helping energy and mobility businesses and stakeholders in low and middle-income countries take advantage of business opportunities and adapt to changes brought about by the energy transition. To do so, she leverages more than a decade of global development experience working with partners across government, private sector, academia, and civil society. Prior to WDI, Páez was based in Washington, D.C., where she held positions at the Higher Education for Development office of the American Council on Education; the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs; and The World Bank Institute, among others.

Páez has a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Université de Paris II, Panthéon Assas; a Master’s degree in International Prospective (Future Studies) from Université de Paris V, René Descartes; and a JD (Law and Social Sciences) from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico. More recently, she completed Rice University’s Global Energy Leadership Program (2022) and earned a Foundations of Mobility Certificate from Nexus at the University of Michigan College of Engineering (2020-2021). She is fluent in French and a native Spanish speaker.
