NextBillion Case Competition Winners Announced

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Two Yale University students have won the 2015 NextBillion Case Writing Competition for their business case that chronicled the mobile money startup venture MPESO in Nicaragua.

Students Julian Chernyk and Rodrigo Cuestas followed the founder of MPESO, Haroldo Montealegre, as he pondered whether to expand his mobile money efforts in Nicaragua or replicate his successful venture that automated the bus fare collection system to create a cashless system for those riders with an MPESO account. The students also collected $3,500 in prize money.
