Market Entry Strategy for Geriatric Rehab Facility

2010

Overview

Aravind Eye Care System (AECS) provides eye care to a large segment of the population by adopting a unique cross subsidizing service model. In 2010, AECS had been in operation for 33 years with 3000 employees handling a patient volume of 2.8 million a year. AECS realized the importance of replicating their service model to address other forms of social issues, and decided to focus on the aging population of India to see whether the high volume, high quality affordable service model could be replicated. The student MAP team delivered a business plan for the development of a comprehensive-care facility for senior citizens. This included a market analysis, operations analysis, and financial projections to ensure the new organization would be financially sustainable.
