Goldman Sachs Entrepreneurship Certificate Program
The Goldman Sachs Entrepreneurship Certificate Program is designed for women across Rwanda who are interested in either starting a business or expanding their start-up. The program will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to launch or expand a successful enterprise in Rwanda.
Description of Session: Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy:
The introductory session will provide an overview of the basic concepts of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs. The topics include the key elements of business and how these various parts fit together with focus on marketing, strategy, finance, accounting and HR. The session explores what it means to be an entrepreneur and the key success factors; and concludes with a discussion on the basics of business strategy.
Outline of key topics to be covered:
- Introduction: Things you should know for the program, program structure overview, how to get the best out of the GSECP. Entrepreneurial mindset - What is entrepreneurship? Who are entrepreneurs and what do they do?
- Rewards and challenges of being an entrepreneur: Key success factors, the entrepreneurial process in six basic steps, developing a Business Plan
- Key managerial elements of business: Organizational strategy, production and operations management
- Finance -financial forecasting, planning, budgeting and accounting
- Human resource management issues: Motivating employees, employee work teams and leadership
- Marketing: Marketing research, developing a marketing concept, growth stages, marketing planning and pricing strategies
- Business strategy: Basic concept of strategy, strategic planning for emerging ventures, and managing entrepreneurial growth
- Strategy application: Building sustainable competitive advantage, positioning and strategy formation
