The Base of the Pyramid Initiative is a global leader in exploring the implications of the BoP Perspective for organizational strategy and poverty alleviation. Our expertise lies in a deep understanding of the unique dimensions of the BoP Perspective, an ability to evaluate the full range of poverty alleviation impacts of BoP ventures, and a collaborative approach to creating business models that incorporates the voices of those at the base of the pyramid.
Healthcare Research Initiative
The Healthcare Research Initiative at the William Davidson Institute addresses issues of access through evidence-based research of healthcare supply chains in developing countries. Our work helps policymakers and implementers in philanthropic organizations, developing country governments, bilateral and multi-lateral agencies, pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturers, and “patient capital” investment firms by proactively identifying areas where policy change is necessary and the nature of policy interventions required.
Globalization of Services
Lowering of tariffs and trade barriers, and rapid advances in technology has fuelled increased global trade and financial integration. Digitization of information and expanded bandwidth capability is accelerating trade in services. Companies can now tap into the global talent pool, and offshore services range from routine call centers to higher value analytical research activities. This has created new opportunities and challenges for organizations in both developed and developing countries.
Green Leap Global Initiative
The Green Leap Global Initiative is a new approach to development that drives economically and environmentally-sustainable growth through the commercialization of green technologies. Research is focused on clean technologies targeted at the base of the economic pyramid in China where the infrastructure has not been built out and where it is possible to construct a new next generation form of living and infrastructure from the beginning.,
