From Roadmap to Results: Partnering with Chihuahua on the EV Transition

WDI is working with government, industry, academia, and entrepreneurs in Chihuahua, Mexico, to accelerate the state’s transition to electric vehicle manufacturing. Starting with developing a strategic roadmap for the state, our engagement has grown into a multi-year initiative that brings strategy, training, and commercialization support together—helping to foster an ecosystem ready for the EV era.

Highlights of our work

Strategic E-Mobility Roadmap

Co-created with state government to chart customized opportunities for the state across the EV value chain.

Collaboration and Innovation

Hosted forums, built connections, created practical tools, and documented innovations via case studies and reports to help companies, government and universities adapt to new EV-era opportunities.

Academic Partnerships

Linked Chihuahua’s engineering faculty with Michigan’s mobility ecosystem to develop EV curricula and talent.

Ecosystem Mapping

Identified diverse organizations working across e-mobility, profiled 60+ companies, developed an asset map and recommendations for strengthening the e-mobility ecosystem in the state.

Commercialization Support

Developed institutional recommendations, commercial feasibility analyses of prototypes, and resources and tools to enable universities and research centers to move prototypes from lab to market.

Together, these efforts are strengthening Chihuahua’s innovation ecosystem, building new talent pipelines, and connecting local players with global mobility leaders—positioning the state as a hub for EV manufacturing and innovation.
