In September 2018, WDI and the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University released Closing the Circuit: Accelerating Clean Energy Investment in India, a paper examining how to strengthen alignment between clean energy enterprises and investors in India.
The research drew on insights from the Energy Access India (EAI) program—a three-year, USAID-funded initiative designed to bridge the gap between clean energy enterprises and investors. In collaboration with the Miller Center, WDI collected data through field interviews in India, remote interviews, and secondary research involving EAI portfolio enterprises, impact investors, and other ecosystem actors.
The paper’s findings highlight lessons for entrepreneurs entering the energy access market, investors seeking to support them, and stakeholders working to improve the broader investment ecosystem.
The publication was launched at the EAI end-of-project event in Delhi in September 2018 and later shared through the ANDE Newsletter, Miller Center events at SOCAP 2018, and an Energy Access Financing roundtable hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
